Brownsville train derailment still under investigation

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of a train derailment that occurred in Brownsville Thursday afternoon, according to Fayette County 911.

Three empty coal cars were reported as derailed on Albany Road at 4:23 p.m. Thursday, an accident that resulted in no injuries, per Fayette County 911.

Albany Road remained closed from Market Street to the end of the Albany Tunnel near Assad Iron and Metal Thursday night, Fayette County 911 said, adding that it is still to be determined what caused the derailment and whether the derailment happened on CSX or Norfolk Southern railroad track in the same area.
