Charleroi police investigating shooting and stabbing

An argument over a woman Monday night in Charleroi resulted in one person shot and another stabbed on Fallowfield Avenue, according to police.

Both men, who are next door neighbors, are expected to recover, according to Chief Eric Porter.

He said they were arguing about a woman, which turned into a fight outside 529 Fallowfield Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. One man stabbed the other. A bystander took him to Monongahela Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released. Then, another man shot the person who stabbed the first man, Porter said.

“It all seems to be related – one incident,” Porter said.

The man who was shot was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh by medical helicopter, where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest near his shoulder, Porter said.

Police are continuing their investigation. No charges were filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
