Jacobs Creek Watershed Association to hold fundraising event
Jacobs Creek Watershed Association will hold their second annual Headwaters Party, a farm-to-table feast fundraising event, 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at Christner Farm, 800 Scottdale-Dawson Road, Dawson.
The fundraiser is to develop biking, hiking, fishing, canoe and kayaking trails in Jacobs Creek.
It’s a genuine Barn party with Bluegrass, Beer, and BBQ!
Join our caterer, the Grumbling Gypsy, as she uses food right from the fields of our host , the
Christner Farm fields, to prepare the all you can eat, four course meal buffet, which even
includes a hog roast! Enjoy some amazing Beer from Bloom Brew, a natural brewery, as you
take a tour of the farm. Several different types of beers will be available to begin your
beguilement of the evening. Dance along with the Hickory Bottom Band, a popular local
bluegrass group with a large following that will sooth your soul and twang your heart strings all
evening.
Two of the richest resources we have in our Laurel Highlands landscape are our beautiful wild
rivers and the many family farms that make up their banks. These two treasures are among our
region’s largest source of jobs, income and economic growth. Our rich agricultural exports and
rugged river adventures define us as a region, and yet the two often seem separate from one
another in development and priorities. Somehow we have lost our intimate connection to our
food, to its source, and to the Rivers that keep us flourishing. Join us August 11th to celebrate
what brings us together: food and fun!
Adult tickets are $20 and include all you can eat farm fresh food, superb music and your first
beer. Kid’s tickets are $15. We keep our ticket prices low to emphasize that farm fresh food is available to everyone and our event is too! For tickets please visit: https://headwaters2018.bpt.me.
