An Ohio woman allegedly fought a trooper on National Pike who was trying to help her and move her off the road after she ran out of gas.

Nora Catherine Corcoran, 36, of 130th Street in Cleveland was spotted lying face-down on the hood of her vehicle in the left lane of Route 40 eastbound between Lick Hollow Road and the scenic overlook at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Trooper Andrew Kobert asked if she was alright and needed help. She reportedly told Kobert she ran out of gas and was upset because nobody stopped to help her.

“Trooper Kobert advised her that he would help her, but advised her she would need to get off the hood of her car” because she was in danger on the busy road, police wrote in the affidavit of probable cause filed in her case. “The defendant started screaming and refused to get off the hood.”

She resisted when he tried to take her off the road by the arm, then allegedly punched him in the face. She became “extremely irate” and threatened to stab him, according to court paperwork.

He continued to struggle with the woman while monitoring traffic on the highway so they would not be hit. She then allegedly kicked him in the head and spit on him, stopping once he deployed a Taser on her.

She is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstruction of highways.

She was arraigned Saturday night by on-call Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who set bail at $75,000. Corcoran remains in Fayette County Prison in lieu of bond.
