Teen injured in Uniontown shooting

An 18-year-old man was shot outside a Carlisle Street home in Uniontown Tuesday evening, according to Uniontown City Police.

His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to Lt. Tom Kolencik. The man was driven to Uniontown Hospital in a personal vehicle. Police are working to identify the shooter, whom Kolencik said the victim was “unwilling or unable” to identify.

An anonymous 911 caller reported the shooting at about 5:20 p.m. Neighbors told police they heard about five shots fired.

“According to the victim, he walked out of a home and heard shots himself and didn’t realize he was struck,” Kolencik said.

He did not specify the address, but said the shooting occurred near Coolspring Street. The man was struck in a “non-vital area,” he said.

“These are the types of crimes that can only be solved with the cooperation of witnesses, bystanders and the community itself,” he said. “It was 5 o’clock on a nice afternoon. We would hope that someone would come forward with information to bring justice to the victim.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Uniontown City Police Department at (724) 430-2929 or Fayette County Crime Stoppers at (724) 320-2042.
