Waynesburg man charged with rape of teenage boy
An arrest warrant was issued for a Waynesburg man who allegedly raped a 14-year-old boy multiple times.
Jerry J. Rutan, 43, of North Avenue is facing felony counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and related charges.
The Herald-Standard does not identify those who allege they are victims of rape.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in Rutan’s case, the boy ran into the woods and hid for an hour Friday after what he described to police as “the worst incident.”
He later notified a neighbor and reported to police Rutan exposed himself “countless times” over the past few years and forced sex acts on him.
The boy told state police that on Friday Rutan held him down by his arms and forcefully performed sex acts on him.
The boy told police he said “stop” and “no” and Rutan responded, “No, I’m in control and can do whatever I want.” Rutan allegedly asked the boy to perform sex acts on him, and the boy refused before running from the house.
During the summer of 2017, Rutan allegedly forced sex acts on the boy after timing him on a dirt bike track, saying he had to make it around the track in less than a minute or he would have to perform a sex act on him, according to the affidavit.
Rutan reportedly attempted suicide Friday after the alleged incident.
He sent a text to his wife saying “Just saying I’m sorry and I love you,” the affidavit said. He was taken to Washington Health System in Greene County.
Charges were filed Friday before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson.
