Aggravated assault charges have been filed against a Monessen woman who allegedly struck her boyfriend in the face with a hammer.

Erin Nicole Walker, 33, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment before on-call Westmoreland County Magisterial District Judge Wayne Gongaware on Sunday.

The charges stem from a Saturday incident at her home on Linden Avenue at 2:40 p.m., when Monessen police responded to a physical domestic call.

Upon arrival, police said they saw Christopher Slavik standing on his front porch with blood on his face and coming from a wound above his right eye.

He told police that he was arguing with Walker, who is his girlfriend, after he accused her of spending money on marijuana instead of buying clothing for their children. He reportedly told police she hit him in the head with an unknown object. He then called 911 as she locked him out of the house, according to court paperwork.

Walker allowed the police in the house where they noticed an abundance of blood in the doorway.

She was handcuffed and escorted out of the home as police spoke with one of the children present. The child reportedly told police, “Mom hit dad on the head with a hammer.”

The two other children present did not see the alleged assault, but heard them arguing.

Slavik was transported to Monongahela Valley Hospital by Mon Valley EMS for treatment.

Walker is free on $50,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Aug. 10.
