A Donora man indicted on federal drug charges has been sentenced to five years in prison.

George Daube, 61, was ordered to serve 60 months in a federal prison on the charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Daube pleaded guilty to the charge in March 2017.

U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon revoked Daube’s bond and remanded him to the custody of the United States Marshal Service.

Bissoon gave Daube credit for time served on any federal detainer and made a recommendation in her sentencing that Daube participate in the Bureau of Prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program.

She also included in her sentencing order that he be housed in a facility close as possible to Pittsburgh.

Upon release, Daube will undergo supervised release for a four-year term.

Along with the prison term, Bissoon also ordered Daube to pay a fine of $5,000 to satisfy the criminal monetary penalty.

Bissoon wrote in the judgment that Daube can pay monthly installments of $100 or five percent of his monthly income-whichever is greater-with the first payment made 30 days following his discharge from prison.

Daube was part of the dismantling of what officials called the “largest interconnected drug organization” in the region in 2015 with more than 50 indictments and involved federal, state and local authorities in multiple counties.
