Terry L. Carnathan
Terry L. Carnathan 71, Richeyville, Pa., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 in his home.
He was born May 20, 1946 in Fredericktown, Pa., the son of James and Harriet “Hattie” (Lane) Carnathan.
Mr. Carnathan was a 1965 graduate of Redstone High School.
From 1966 to 1969 he served with the United States Navy. For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Hancock-McCune -Horne American Legion Post 705, Centerville, Pa.
A member of United Mine Workers Local 762, Terry was employed as an Electrician at the former J&L Vesta 5 Prep Plant in LaBelle, Pa., and as a Foreman at the Maple Creek Mine.
Mr. Carnathan was a true animal lover.
He enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family on their annual trips to Myrtle Beach.
On February 9, 1987 he married Charlyn Smith Carnathan, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: John Bohna (Ann) of East Millsboro, Pa., Terry Carnathan of Richeyville Pa., and Sean Carnathan (Julie) of Brownsville, Pa.; grandchildren: John Bohna and Emily Bohna; two brothers: Walter “Red” Carnathan (Lou) of Penn Craft, Pa., James Carnathan (Joyce) of East Millsboro, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Lent (Jack) of East Millsboro, Pa.; special brother-in -law, Keith Smith of Arensburg, Pa.; several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased are an infant sister and his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service with Military Rites will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the CENTERVILLE AMERICAN LEGION, 1101 Old National Pike, Fredericktown, PA 15333 with Military Rites by the Centerville American Legion Post 705.
