A Monongahela man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase Friday.

According to a criminal complaint filed with Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins, 32-year-old Joshua Kefover fled from Charleroi Regional Police Department officer Sean Sluganski around 4:50 p.m. Friday.

Kefover allegedly turned onto Lincoln Avenue without using his turn signal, prompting Sluganski to initiate a traffic stop.

Sluganski said Kefover’s vehicle matched the description of one operated by a wanted individual. The officer also indicated that he recognized Kefover and that he had felony warrants out for his arrest. After initially stopping at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Eighth Street, Kefover fled.

Kefover allegedly drove through several stop signs while Sluganski pursued along Fifth Street, Freemont Road, Dairy Road and Coyle Curtain Road.

Sluganski wrote that the pursuit exceeded speeds of approximately 120 mph on Route 43, noting that traffic was minimal and all civilian vehicles moved to the shoulder of the road.

According to court documents, police canceled the pursuit after losing site of Kefover when he turned onto Dry Run Road.

Similar charges were also filed with Magisterial District Judges Jesse Pettit and Mark Wilson. Each docket also listed different addresses for Kefover, including Donora and Uniontown.

Kefover was arrested Tuesday morning, and remains lodged in the Washington County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond.
