‘Cheddar Bob’ arrested, denied bail for February shooting in Brownsville

A six-week hunt for a Republic man accused of shooting two people during an argument at the dinner table Feb. 10 ended earlier this week when state police took him into custody.

Aaron Michael Williams, 33, also known as Cheddar Bob, of 1020 Main Street was arraigned Tuesday afternoon and denied bail in three cases because he is considered a flight risk and faces multiple violent offenses, according to court documents.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Williams and Cori Lee Scott went to Joseph Brown’s Clover Street home that day. As they were sitting around the dining room table, Brown and Williams began arguing about a relationship involving Brown’s son. At one point, police said Brown called Williams “Cheddar Bob,” referencing a character from the movie “Eight Mile,” inciting Williams. Police said that prompted him to pull out a silver revolver, which he fired three or four times, hitting Brown in the foot and grazing Scott’s leg.

The three men fled from the house, and Brown and Scott were taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment. Police said evidence on the scene corroborated Scott’s story.

Before Williams was taken into custody, police issued warnings that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Williams is also charged with aggravated assault in a separate case filed in December for an alleged incident in Menallen Township, and for drug charges filed in Brownsville in July.

In the shooting case, he is charged with two counts each of criminal attempt to commit homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

He was arraigned at 2 p.m. Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
