Frances T. Coldren
Frances Thomas Whyel Coldren, 97, peacefully died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Uniontown Hospital.
Born in Fort Martin, West Virginia on August 15, 1920 to Edward Marion Thomas and Ida Ellen Conwell Thomas, Frances was the last living of her eight siblings.
Also predeceasing her were two loving husbands, Thomas M. Whyel and Ira B. Coldren Jr.
Fran had a remarkable zest for life that continued into her golden years. She was a talented artist and competitive sportsman. Some of her many accomplishments include: member and 3 time Club Champion at Uniontown County Club, member of Western Pennsylvania Women’s Golf Association, Charter member of Uniontown Green Gardeners, and Uniontown Art Club participant.
She cherished her friends and family members, and lived her life with a sense of grace, generosity, kindness, and an appreciation for nature and art.
She is survived by a daughter, Dian VanVoorhis Moore (David) of Stanwood, Michigan; granddaughter Suzanne Shrum Frank of Uniontown, Pa.; great grandchildren: Daniel Gillingham Frank of Uniontown, Pa., Vanessa Camille Frank of Vail, Colorado. She is also survived by three step children and numerous other extended family members.
Fran’s family would like to thank special friend, companion, and caregiver Vicki Thomas as well as Annie Ulmer and Marla Trincia.
A memorial celebration-open house will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Uniontown Country Club from 12 Noon to 4 p.m.
In her memory, donations may be made to the Uniontown Green Gardeners or Fort Martin Methodist Church.
