PennDOT announces road work across the region
The following is the tentative work plan for the state Department of Transportation in Fayette, Washington and Greene counties for the week of May 7:
Fayette County work includes:
n Bridge replacement is scheduled on Palmer Hollow Road
n Bridge flushing is scheduled on various state routes in the Elliotsville, Wharton Furnace and Dinnerbell areas
n Seal coating is scheduled on Bittner, Laurel Hill, Strong and Bolden roads
n Patching is scheduled on various state routes in the Buena Vista, Zitney and Banning roads areas
n Crack sealing is scheduled on Route 119 in the Point Marion/Smithfield Road area
n Pipe replacement is scheduled on Vances Mill Road
Washington County work includes:
n Patching is planned for Interstate 70 (Segment 2 to 170), Interstate 79 (segment 378 to 495); Route 18 (segment 400 to 570) Henderson Road, Davis School Road, Reissing Road and Route 22
n Pipe replacement is scheduled for Rural Valley Road
n Slide work is scheduled for Route 40
n Crack sealing will be performed on Scenic Drive, Main Street and National Pike, Amity Ridge Road and Waynesburg Road, and Franklin Farms Road
n Shoulder cutting is planned for Route 40 at National Pike and Chestnut Street; Fraction Road, Robinson Run and Beham Ridge Road
n Bridge maintenance will be performed on Dinsmore Avenue.
Greene County work includes:
n Bridge maintenance in Morgan Township
n Bridge flushing on various bridges throughout eastern Greene County
n Spray patching potholes on Interstate 79 in various townships
n Shoulder cutting and grading on various routes in Monongahela, Greene and Cumberland Townships
n Drainage issues on various routes throughout the county
n Line painting on I-79 in Whiteley Township
n Litter and debris pick up on I-79 in Washington Township
n Slide repairs on Wayne Township and Route 21 in Richhill Township
n Slide/debris removal in Perry Township
All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights. PennDOT has a 24-hour toll free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be used to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623).
