James Keating “Pap”
James “Pap” Keating, age 75, Perryopolis, Pa., passed away at his home Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
He was born February 25, 1943 in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late James Bernard Keating and Carmela “Lena” Margaret (La Monica) Keating.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War and retired after 22 years ending his career as a Marine Recruiter with the rank as Master Gunnery Sergeant.
Jim grew up working at the Keating Greenhouse in New Salem, Pa.
He also retired from TEI Analytical Services in Washington, Pa.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judith “Judy” (Herring) Keating; children: James Keating and wife Joy of Smithton, Pa., John R. Keating and wife Pamela of Monroeville, Pa., Christopher M. Sullivan and wife Dawn of Belle Vernon, Pa., and Gregory S. Sullivan and wife Christina of Cypress, California; grandchildren Christian, Ashley, Callie, Nakell, Tyler, Daniel, Angela and Madeline; great grandson, Noah James; siblings: Donna Cesario of New Salem, Pa., Pete Keating and his wife Aleta of Titusville, Florida, and Vincent Keating and wife Katie of Little Hocking, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
Jim’s family will receive friends on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m in the BLAIR-
LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, 305 Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7023 of Perryopolis will conduct a Service on that evening at 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, Parting Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. in funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Anthony W. Ditto as the Celebrant.
Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road-Bridgeville
