An arrest warrant has been issued for a Gastonville man who allegedly fled from police in Belle Vernon and was found to be wanted in two counties.

North Belle Vernon Police Department said they conducted a traffic stop around 12:30 a.m. May 2 on a vehicle in which Douglas Gray, 34, was a passenger.

Police said Gray gave them his name, birth date and Social Security number, but while they were checking his information, Gray exited and fled from the vehicle on foot.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Gray led police on a foot chase through a nearby neighborhood. While multiple officers searched for Gray, they could not find him.

Court records show that Gray has warrants for such charges including flight to avoid apprehension, false identification to law enforcement, violations of a protection from abuse order, receiving stolen property and drug charges.

“Gray is placed as a safety risk not only to himself, (but also to) the public at large and to the officers arriving and already on the scene,” Patrolman Robert Cunningham of the North Belle Vernon Police wrote in the criminal complaint.

Gray was charged with escape, flight to avoid apprehension, obstructing the administration of law, loitering and prowling at night and disorderly conduct before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner.
