Jean Shehl Mocniak

Jean (Shehl) Mocniak, 86, of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at her home.*

She was born June 12, 1931 in Bobtown, Pa., a daughter of the late Willey and Fannie (Blaker) Shehl.

She was 1949 graduate of Point Marion High School and 1976 graduate of the Greene County Vocational-Technical Licensed Practical Nursing Program.*

She worked at WVU Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia and the Curry Memorial Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa.

On July 8, 1950, she married Frank Mocniak Jr. with whom she shared her love and her heart for 66 years until his passing on November 11, 2016.

She was a member of Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church which she faithfully attended with her husband and family.

Jean enjoyed music, reading, sewing, quilting, and crocheting beautiful baby hats that she donated to the WVU Medicine NICU.*

She also volunteered and entertained at the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home along with her husband who played the Hammond Organ for their many dear friends for several years.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Marty Mocniak and his wife Lois of Greensboro, Pa., Randy Mocniak and his wife Robin of Morgantown, West Virginia; three daughters: Francine Mocniak of Morgantown, West Virginia, Jacki Wade and her husband Doug of Blacksville, West Virginia, and Judi Pekar and her husband Thomas of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, Pa.; 12 grandchildren: Annie Parker (Tab), Doug Mocniak (Leanne), Megan Schau, Matthew Mocniak, Lucas Mocniak, Chelsi Greco (Nick), Ben Wade, Josh Wade (Rachel), Ashley Morgan (Adam), Tony Liberatore, Jenna Liberatore, Joel Pekar; seven great grand children and two on the way; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many dear friends and neighbors.*

Deceased is a sister, Oretta (Shehl) Koast.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, PA 15320 (724.966.5500).

All are invited to meet at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church, Waynesburg, Pa. for a Mass of the Resurrection with the Rev. J. Francis Frazer as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort.
