Gilbert W. Campbell “Gibby”

Gilbert W. “Gibby” Campbell, age 71, of Fairbank, Pa., passed away on Friday evening, May 18, 2018.

He was born on Sunday, August 11, 1946 in Orient, Fayette County Pa., the son of the late Earl W. and Margaret (Wolford) Campbell.

Gibby was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Army from 1967 through 1969 and was Honorably Discharged. He was a Wounded Warrior and was awarded the Purple Heart Citation. Gibby also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.

He was a member of American Legion Post 275 in Grindstone, Pa., Fairbank Rod & Gun Club, Newboro Indians Club and the Brownsville Sportsman’s Club.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Melvin, Earl, Warren, Kenneth; a sister, Audrey McNatt and grandson, Jonathan Anderkovitch.

Gibby is survived by his beloved Mary Ward; three daughters: Larae Nemchik, Pam Rosiek, Kim Campbell; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Gary Campbell, Wesley Campbell, and Carson Campbell; sisters: Ruth Ann Thorpe, Sharon “Tina” Gotto; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m and on Tuesday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. when the Funeral Service will be held with Pastor William Wiegand officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., with Full Military Rites/ Honors accorded by the American Legion Posts 295, 275, 940, and 838.
