Donora man killed in Monday morning crash

A Donora man was killed Monday morning when he crashed near the Donora/Monessen bridge, officials said.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco identified the man as Barry Wayne Carnahan, 64.

According to a media release issued by the coroner’s office, Carnahan lost control of his vehicle and crashed on the Donora side of the bridge near the McKean Avenue ramp at about 6:30 a.m. He was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital by Mon Valley EMS, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:30 a.m.

Carnahan was the only person involved in the crash. His cause and manner of death are pending further investigation, according to the coroner.

Donora Borough Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Donora Volunteer Fire Department and the state police forensic services unit also responded to the scene.
