ROSTRAVER — The president of a small Rostraver Township sanitation company owes the rapid success of his company to his family, competitive pricing and offering contract-free commercial accounts.

“We come in on a gentleman’s handshake,” Joe Eori of Big’s Sanitation said Wednesday when he hosted a visit to his company by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The SBA helped Eori find a lender to finance expansions at Big’s on Route 51 North after he put together a plan to grow his business, said Michelle Christian, a regional administrator for the SBA at its King of Prussia office.

“It’s important to highlight a business such as Big’s,” Christian said.

She said Big’s demonstrates how the federal tax cuts are helping the U.S. economy to grow.

“We’re growing by leaps and bounds,” Eori said.

Big’s started out in 2007 with about a half-dozen garbage trucks, he said.

The business now employs 60 workers, up form 20 a few years ago, and it operates a fleet of 36 trucks, his company said.

The lot and office are at capacity, leaving little room for any new trucks.

“We need an office,” Eori told the SBA representatives at his business. “We need more people. We could get really big.”

“It important to visit a business that has been supported by the Small Business Administration and give them some good publicity,” added Kelly Hunt, a district director at the SBA.
