Peter M. “Pete” Casini
Peter M. “Pete” Casini, 72, of South Connellsville, passed away October 24, 2018. He was born December 23, 1945 in Scottdale, a son of the late Amerigo (Mid) and Eva Jean (Thomas) Casini.
He was a 1963 graduate of the last graduating class of Scottdale High School.
Following high school, Pete went to work for East Connellsville Green Houses. He then went to Crown Cork and Seal for 49 years as a Tool & Dye Setter, where he became Supervisor. For 15 years Pete held the position as Chief of Police for South Connellsville Police Department. He was also Mayor of South Connellsville Borough for 28 years.
Pete was very well known, respected and liked in the community. He was a member of the South Connellsville Rod and Gun Club, South Connellsville Firemans Club, South Connellsville Sportsman Club, and ELKS #503.
Pete was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his mobile home everyone knew as the “Trailer in the Mountains” at White Creek.
Pete also liked sporting his 1976 Chevy Nova at car shows. In his early years Pete drove a stock car for Larry’s Curb Service.
Pete is survived by a daughter; Kristin M. Casini of Dunbar, two granddaughters; Sara Showman of Dunbar, and Ja’Leia Kirby of New Salem, two great-granddaughters; Grace Hriscisce of Dunbar, and Hailee Beal of Dunbar, a step-son; Roger Myers of Verona, a brother; Cecil (Spider) Casini of Connellsville and his children; Michael and Jennifer Casini, and Jessica Thompson.
In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly Casini Kirby in 2011, a grandson; Darrell Ross in 2013, Pete’s second wife Lonnie Myers Casini (mother of Roger Myers), Maternal grandparents; Clarence and Florence (Abkemier) Thomas, and Paternal grandparents; Pietro and Amelia (Amici) Casini.
Pete’s family would like to thank the staff at Eicher’s Personal Care Home, and nurse Robin Brooks with Amedysis Home Health for the care and compassion they provided.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME 123 S. 1st St. West Side, Connellsville (724) 628-9033 on Sunday from Noon-7PM, and Monday from 10-11AM the hour of service with Pastor Randy Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlick Cemetery.
