Woman charged with assaulting boyfriend after he was hit by a car
A woman is behind bars after she allegedly kicked her boyfriend in the face multiple times while he was lying in a Waynesburg street after he was hit by a car.
Pamela Faye Shelton, 33, of Punta Gorda, Florida, is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault for the alleged attack on Ryan Brooks on High Street near First Baptist Church at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
“I just saw him laying on the ground looking so innocent, so I just stomped him in the head,” she was quoted as saying in court paperwork to Waynesburg Police.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in her case, Shelton and Brooks were arguing on the sidewalk when Brooks ran into traffic. Eric Hobarik told police he tried to stop, but hit Brooks at about 30 miles per hour. Hobarik has not been charged.
When police arrived, Brooks was lying on his back in a small pool of blood with blood covering his face.
A white Chevrolet had a dent on its hood. Police said Shelton was attempting to leave.
A witness, Jennifer Schoenfeldt, showed police a video on her cell phone which reportedly showed Shelton kicking Brooks in the face while he was lying on the ground on his side. Multiple people ran toward Shelton, attempting to stop her, according to court paperwork.
Brooks told police he blacked out, and did not remember what happened, court paperwork said.
She was arraigned Saturday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge D. Glenn Bates, who set bail at $20,000. She remains in Greene County Prison in lieu of bail.
