Casey Jonae Snyder
Casey Jonae Snyder, 19, of McClellandtown, passed away suddenly Friday, April 12, 2019. She was born June 16, 1999, in Uniontown, a daughter of Kathleen Pikula Watson of McClellandtown and Michael F. Snyder and wife Jackie of Uniontown.
Casey was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charles Pikula of Uniontown.
Casey was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School with the class 2017 and attended Slippery Rock University for one year following high school graduation. Casey had a strong dedication and passion for dance. She was an elegant and graceful dancer, both on and off the stage. She trained intensively for 12 years at Koza and Co. in Uniontown under the direction of Penny Koza, at Company G in Perryopolis, PA under the direction of Apryle Herczeg, and at Kat and Co. in Morgantown, W.Va., under the direction of Katreena Snyder. She was also a member of Millenium Dance Complex in Pittsburgh. She also received training through Dance Masters of Pennsylvania and participated in dance workshops and training with some of the top leading choreographers in the industry, including Will Thomas, Aaron Czuprenski, Corrie Wyse, Chantel Aguirre, Yanis Marshall, Braham Logan Crane, Tokyo, and Russian Ballet Master Mansur Kamaletdinov. She danced competitively and traveled extensively to various competitions across the East Coast. Her favorite dance competitions were Starquest International and ASH (Artists Simply Human). In 2014 she was accepted into the National Circus School in Montreal Canada, where she underwent 2 weeks of intensive training in the Circus Arts. She won many platinum awards throughout the years for her extraordinary dance talent and technique. Casey loved getting costumes custom made at the Barre Room with Crystal, Deb and Rosemary. She was adored, respected and loved by many in the dance community.
Casey was a beautiful person inside and out, and was a light in this world. She touched the lives of many people, not just in the dance community. Casey left behind many memories for us to carry on with and hold in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, left to cherish Casey’s memory are her two brothers, Tyler Watson and fiance Heather Rattay of Stalstown, and Patrick Snyder of McClellandtown and girlfriend Tahlyn Hoburn of Mount Pleasant; maternal grandmother Shirley Pikula of McClellandtown; paternal grandparents Linda Wilson and Michael Snyder; maternal aunt Teresa Ferguson of Uniontown; maternal uncles Charles Pikula and wife Dana of Kansas and Michael Pikula and wife Caroline of Hopwood; paternal aunts Chris Snyder and husband Chris Sotak; Tracy Orlando and husband Alan of New Stanton; Jonetta Stepanik and husband Lou of New Stanton; Patti Synder; many cousins and her favorite priest, Father John Szczesny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA, where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 18. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, when a service celebrating Casey’s life will take place with the Rev. Don Henderson and Father John Szczesny officiating. Interment will be private.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Casey’s cousin, Linzy Jeffries, and uncle, Andy Ferguson, for their compassionate care of Casey.
