Man denied bail for allegedly burglarizing ex-girlfriend’s home in North Union
A Washington County man is behind bars without bail for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home in North Union Township after leaving her threatening voicemails.
State police said an active protection-from-abuse order was filed against Theodore Harding Thomas Jr., 52, of Church Street, Washington, by his ex, Pamela Murray. Police said she had just left her house to report the PFA violation when Thomas picked the lock on her back door at 243 Washington Street about 8:30 a.m. Friday and pushed aside a refrigerator she used to block the door, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case.
Murray’s mother, who lives next door, called 911 when she saw Thomas drive up to the house and heard loud noises, according to the complaint. Police arrived to find the front door open and the home ransacked. Murray told police Thomas called her multiple times between about 6 and 8:15 a.m. and left several threatening voicemails, court documents said.
Authorities said Thomas gave police a full confession, saying he called Murray and left threatening voicemails and broke into her house. He said he wanted money from Murray to “buy more crack,” police said. He reportedly said he saw Murray on the porch and thought she would be inside.
Thomas is charged with burglary and harassment. He was arraigned before Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who denied bail citing a threat to the public.
