Uniontown man charged in Fairchance home invasion, assault
A Uniontown man allegedly invaded a Fairchance apartment and assaulted two men inside Tuesday night, later claiming to police they stole from him.
State police said Kevin Michael Pitts, 33, of Oliphant Road “openly admitted” to assaulting the men during a police interview, according to court documents.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Pitts “stormed up the stairs” of 81 West Church Street at about 11 p.m. and assaulted Brandon Kissinger, who had been playing PlayStation 4 in his bedroom. As Pitts left, he allegedly punched Joseph Kissinger in the face.
Police said Joseph Kissinger had bruising and a knot on his forehead. Brandon Kissinger did not have apparent injuries.
Brittany Smith, who was also in the apartment, told police Pitts claimed she invited him, and she did not.
Pitts gave police a phone number to verify the invitation. The phone number was for another man who said he did not know Pitts or anyone else involved.
Pitts reportedly told state police the Kissingers stole from him.
He was found in a car with four other people in the parking lot of Sunoco and Arby’s along Georges Fairchance Road. A man in the car told police he heard throughout the night Pitts was going to fight someone. The driver said she was taking Pitts and the rest of the group to Shop N Save when he went into the laundromat below the apartments by himself. He returned and told her “let’s go,” according to the affidavit.
Pitts is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple assault. He was arraigned Wednesday morning before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who set bail at $65,000. Pitts was unable to post bail.
