Point Marion man pleads guilty in stabbing

A Point Marion man has pleaded guilty to stabbing another man during an altercation last year.

Cody William Carey, 21, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

Fayette County proescutors have recommended a sentence of 27 months to five years in prison.

On the evening of April 14, Carey was involved in an altercation with another man in Point Marion where a witness said both Carey and the man had gone to the ground at least twice before getting up, and the witness observed a large amount of blood as Carey stabbed the man multiple times on both sides of his torso with a pocket knife.

The victim was rushed to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Carey remains lodged in the Fayette County Prison with bail set at $20,000.

Carey will be sentenced at a later date.
