Stash seeking Republican nod for Dunbar Township supervisor
“Focused on the future” is the slogan that George Stash III, a Republican, has chosen for is bid for Dunbar Township supervisor.
Stash, 42 has lived the majority of his life in the township, and offers a wide range of experience. He said he can become a valuable asset to the township while serving his neighbors with respect, courtesy and a hard work ethic that will benefit all. For the last 21 years, Stash has owned and operated a lawn care and landscape business in the area. He feels this experience will greatly benefit residents with his knowledge in handling employees, payroll, insurance, the bidding process, contract negotiations and maintenance and repair to various types of equipment. Such knowledge will reduce the need and cost of hiring outside firms to handle the township’s needs, he said.
Stash also is a licensed realtor and has been an agent with Coldwell Banker Laurel Ridge Realty since March 2018. This experience has shown him the immense need for smaller homes, family homes and single-story homes for retirees and those looking to downsize. Stash also is eager to bring into the township small businesses as well as major franchises that will greatly benefit from the flow of traffic along the Route 119 corridor. He understands the massive potential the township has to offer and wants to focus on making Dunbar Township an area where people can live, shop and dine with ease.
These visions will greatly benefit and build the township’s tax base, he said. Stash also has a good relationship with the local state representative and senator, and looks forward to working with them seeking grants and funding to address many of the infrastructure issues the township currently has with conditions of its roads and bridges, as well as drainage and flooding issues. Stash also wants to explore ways to improve and expand recreational facilities and youth programs within the township by way of seeking out grants and funding as the neighboring townships have already done.
Stash, who is a single parent of two teenage children, has been affiliated with several of these organizations in the area over the years, and understands and appreciates the time and effort parents put in, involving their children in extracurricular activities.
Lastly, he wants to take on the issues that concern seniors in the area. Keeping taxes low, finding ways to fund senior activities and a senior center, and addressing housing such as single-floor multi-units, a 55 and over community and smaller or patio-style homes.
Over the years, Stash has served on several boards and has been involved with many organizations and volunteered a lot of his time. Currently, he serves as the treasurer for the Connellsville Falcon Football Parents Association. He is a member of the Fayette Board of Realtors. In prior years, he was on executive committees for the Dunbar Mules Booster Football Team, Dunbar Cub Scouts Pack 180, the Dunbar Township Elementary PTO and the Connellsville Area Preschool. He resides in the Little Summit area of the township with his two children, Elizabeth and George IV.
