Raymond Newhouse, Sr.
Raymond Newhouse, Sr. of Uniontown, Pa., went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, unexpectedly at Jefferson Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born on Monday, May 9, 1938, a son of Earl James Newhouse and Dorothy Jean (Fazenbaker) Newhouse Koval.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Newhouse and Roy James; and sister Nancy Patrick.
He was a member of Saint John The Evangelist Church and a former member of Church Council where he served as Eucharistic Minister. Ray received the Saint George religious medal from scouting as he helped resurrect Saint John’s Cub and Boy Scout Troop 602 and also assisted with the Cub Scout Summer Day Camp at Dunlap. He served his Country in the United States Navy and later worked many years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen and Allenport. Ray also was a Professional Photographer, operating Newhouse Photography and Vital Photography. Ray and Robin photographed many weddings and also portrait photo- graphy. After his retirement he worked at Marquis Gardens Place as Maintenance Supervisor and so enjoyed his time spent there with the residents for over 15 years. Ray was a member of the Fayette Senior Golf League. He truly loved the game of golf, playing with his sons, grandsons and friends, he also was an avid deer hunter and bass fisherman. Ray and his family spent many years camping, especially at Posey Corners Camp Ground with dear friends, the Sawicky family, many stories have been shared. Ray so enjoyed Blues music, The Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and vacationing with his family at Myrtle Beach. Ray took such pride in his lawn, he would often say he could hear the grass grow.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 43 years Robin Newhouse; children, Raymond Newhouse, Jr. and wife Amanda, Jason Newhouse and wife Trissa; grandchildren, Timber, Jaxon, Wyatt, and Lillian. He is also survived by his fur baby, Bentley; special family friend Becky Bowden; brothers, Robert and Ken Newhouse; sister and brothers-in-law Roxanne and George Rizak, Robert Wadsworth; and many nieces, nephews, friends and special friends at Marquis Gardens Place.
He so enjoyed spending time with his family and was so proud of each and every one of them. Ray was a very caring and compassionate man that always had a good word and smile for everyone and always willing to help. A gentleman in every sense of the word. The Center for Organ Recovery will help find those in need of Ray’s generosity.
Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, and until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when prayers of transfer will be said in the BAKER-TERRAVECCHI FUNERAL HOME, INC. 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa 15401.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa 15401.
