Winter college

California University of Pennsylvania will begin enrolling for a winter college session Oct. 7. Online undergraduate and graduate courses are open to current and new students, including those who attend other colleges and universities during the academic year, during a five-week session from Dec. 16 to Jan. 17. Grant received

Waynesburg University’s Department of Communication received a $5,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation for equipment upgrade assistance and support of the department’s COMM 3 to 1 Campaign, which raises funds for equipment upgrades to enhance the department’s television studio and remote production systems through a 3-to-1 funding match from the Stover Foundation. The FirstEnergy funds will also assist the university in expanding the scope and reach of its programming on Waynesburg’s Public Educational Governmental channel. Upon implementation of new high-definition equipment, the Department of Communication plans to cover a variety of municipality meetings, including Greene County Commissioner meetings and Central Greene School District board meetings.

Homecoming weekend

California University of Pennsylvania will hold its second annual Vulcan Fest Homecoming Weekend Oct. 11-13. The celebration includes a parade beginning at noon Oct. 12 at the Convocation Center and proceeding down Third Street to the California business district, and Vulcans football at 4 p.m. Oct. 12 vs. the Clarion Golden Eagles at Adamson Stadium at Roadman Park. Opportunities fair set

California University of Pennsylvania’s Government Agency Coordination Office (GACO) will hold its 32nd annual Procurement Opportunities Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd., Monroeville. The fair will provide companies with contracting and subcontracting information and will feature government agencies, corporations, regional service organizations and area businesses. Businesses interested in selling their products or services to federal, state and local government agencies and prime contractors are encouraged to attend. The cost to attend $35.
