Personnel moves planned at Connellsville Area

By Amy Fauth Afauth@heraldstandard.Com 2 min read

A number of personnel moves will dominate Wednesday’s Connellsville Area School board meeting as school directors look to fill a number of vacancies.

The board will consider 22 separate personnel resolutions, including the hiring of six long-term substitutes, six support positions, and an office clerk. There are also two retirements and four leaves being requested within the district, and additions to the professional and support substitute list.

The moves were introduced Monday night at the board’s work session by board member David Panzella, head of the personnel and review & liaison committee, following a more than 60-minute executive session to discuss personnel, along with contract issues prior to the meeting.

“I would like to thank the personnel committee. They’ve been taxed (with these moves),” said Superintendent Joseph Bradley.

Bradley went on to explain that many of the moves were necessary to fill vacancies created when teachers with seniority took advantage of bidding on other positions in various buildings.

Although candidates and salaries were not disclosed for the new hires at the meeting, Bradley said those would be released Wednesday. The additions to the substitute lists were released and include Amy Kinneer, special education PK-8 and elementary PK-4, 5-6; Julie Whitmire, emergency; and Katherine Mullen, prospective educator for professional, and Hannah Stillman, Kristie Myers, and Lori Bailey for the support substitute list.

In addition, an approval of release time is expected to be granted to Tina Hoover, ESP Southwestern Division vice president, for one half day on Nov. 8 to attend the Region Board of Directors meeting.
