A Mill Run man allegedly led state police on a foot chase near Breakneck Church of God in Bullskin Township following a traffic stop at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

State police said Bryan James Rugg, 36, of Maple Summit Road gave police a fake name and ran when he was asked if he smoked any crack cocaine.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Rugg appeared to be under the influence. He told police his name was Patrick Rugg. Police said the driver’s license photo for Patrick Rugg looked like the man in the vehicle. He allegedly ran from a state police trooper on foot when he was asked if he had smoked crack. He tripped and fell on the road, and was taken into custody.

In the vehicle, state police said they found a straw with white powder residue and a container with apparent marijuana residue. A passenger told police Rugg had several drinks about an hour before the traffic stop and smoked weed earlier in the evening.

Rugg eventually admitted his name was Bryan Rugg and that he had multiple warrants for his arrest, according to court documents.

He is charged with flight to avoid apprehension, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and false identification.
