Balloon launch slated
Springfield Clifford N. Pritts Elementary School in the Connellsville Area School District is inviting the public to attend the launch of a space balloon at 10 a.m. Oct. 28. The school is located at 14 School House Road, Normalville.
Chemistry event set
Waynesburg University’s American Chemical Society student chapter will host a haunted lab event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Stewart Science Hall, fifth floor. The event will showcase hands-on experiments and interactive demonstrations geared toward students in elementary and middle school. The event is free and open to the public. Uniontown conferences
Uniontown Area School District will hold parent-teacher conferences for students in all grades Nov. 5. Conferences will be scheduled by appointment and by open house at all school buildings from 12:45-7 p.m. There will be no school for students on this day.
Exhibit scheduled
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will host the WWII Veterans History Project exhibit Nov. 6-20 in observance of Veterans Day. The project preserves the memories of World War II veterans through the exhibition of uniforms, helmets, medals of valor, personal letters and photographs of those who served. Founder Benjamin Mack Jackson will discuss the origins and implications of the exhibit at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 6 in Swimmer Hall. The event is free and open to the public. LH conferences
Laurel Highlands School District will hold parent-teacher conferences for students in all grades from 8-11:30 a.m. Nov. 27, and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Dec. 3.
Conferences for middle school and high school students will be available by open house at both school buildings. All teachers will be available to meet with parents.
Conferences for elementary school students will be scheduled by appointment by classroom teachers; the length of each conference will be 10 minutes. Music, physical education and Title I reading and math improvement teachers will be available to meet with parents.
There will be no school for students on these days.
