Cyclist life-flighted after going over riverbank in Dunbar Township

Emergency responders made a rescue attempt to retrieve a cyclist who went over a riverbank off a bike trail in Dunbar Township Sunday morning, according to Fayette County 911.

The incident was reported at 9:40 a.m. near Wheeler Bottom, prompting volunteer fire personnel from South Connellsville and Connellsville to respond with boats along the Youghiogheny River.

The cyclist was life-flighted from the scene, according to Fayette County 911.

Also responding were Morrell and Connellsville Township volunteer fire departments and Fayette EMS, Fayette County 911 said.

Additional details were not immediately available about the condition of the cyclist.
