A Point Marion man pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to a count of interstate domestic violence.

Kristopher Lee Holmes, whose age was not provided, allegedly restrained his dating partner while he led police on a high-speed chase from West Virginia into Pennsylvania on Aug. 30, 2020. According to federal authorities, the chase exceeded speeds of 100 mph.

Prosecutors said the alleged victim was trying to escape from the car during the chase by attempting to open the passenger door to exit the vehicle while it was moving. To keep the woman in the car, Holmes allegedly gave her a black eye and left long bruises in the shape of fingerprints on her left arm.

Senior U.S. District Judge David Stewart Cercone will sentence Holmes on Dec. 5, and he could face up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
