A German Township man is in jail after allegedly attacking his neighbor with a knife last week.

Robert Michael Gabor, 52, is charged by German Township police with felonies of attempted homicide, attempted aggravated assault, and misdemeanors of reckless endangerment, simple assault, indecent exposure, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 100 block of Demniak Road at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday following reports of gunshots.

Joseph Demniak told police that Gabor came over completely naked and swung a knife toward his head. According to the complaint, Demniak fired shots into the air from both a pistol and shotgun in an attempt to scare Gabor.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from Demniak’s home and found that it supported what he told them.

Gabor was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Jennifer Jeffries, who sent him to the Fayette County jail without bond. Per court records, Jeffries denied bond for a pre-trial mental health evaluation.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 4.
