Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club honored Elizabeth Matyus as its October girl of the month.

A senior at Carmichaels Area High School, she is a daughter of Jason and Crystal Matyus of Carmichaels.

Matyus’ school activities include vice president of Bots IQ, vice president of American Sign Language Club, member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, peer court, National Honor Society and majorette captain in the marching band.

Outside of school, Matyus volunteers at the food bank, hospital, church and local events. She is an altar server at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church where she also plays the piano and organ.

Matyus plans to attend Shenandoah University to major in nursing with the goal of becoming a neonatal nurse practitioner.
