The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce recently honored Hayley Riggin of Uniontown, a junior at Geibel Catholic High School, as a student of the month for March.
A daughter of Faith Riggin and Kenneth Riggin, she plans to attend Seton Hill or the University of Pittsburgh to study sports medicine with the career goal of becoming an athletic trainer for high school or college.
Riggin is a member of the National French Honor Society and the Junior National Honor Society.
She is very involved in the extracurricular activities at Geibel, including varsity cheerleading, varsity volleyball, softball, yearbook, chamber ensemble, prom committee, Christmas dance committee and Students Against Destructive Decisions.
Riggin is a student demonstrator at the Kalivoda Dance Center and volunteers at FestiFall at Friendship Hill National Historic Site and at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Annual Church Festival.
Elected by their schools based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities, and citizenship, students of the month are honored by the chamber’s Education Council. They were presented a recognition certificate at the Students of the Month Dinner in April.
