A woman accused of prostitution and assault waived charges while her boyfriend was held for court on aggravated assault.
Michael Allen Rankin, 32, and Brittany Huss, 24, both of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, were both charged in an alleged assault Jan. 10 in North Union Township.
The alleged victim, Curtis Moreland, 32, testified at Rankin's preliminary hearing Wednesday that he and Huss engaged in consensual sexual activities in exchange for money to buy cocaine.
He said he and Huss ingested the drugs together.
No charges have been filed against Moreland in the case.
He testified their sexual activity was interrupted when Rankin pulled up behind his vehicle in a truck. She said she got out of the car, screaming, "Help me."
Rankin allegedly beat Moreland with a tire iron until Moreland freed the item from his hand. He testified Huss then hit him with the iron.
He said his finger was broken and he was unable to walk for a short period of time after the alleged attack.
Huss waived charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and promoting prostitution to the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas.
She is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
Rankin was held for court on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.
He is free from jail after a $25,000 bond was posted on his behalf.
