A Greene County woman is facing a charge after police allege she fraudulently claimed she was raped in late November.

Trooper Robert H. Cree said Jamie Marie Gump, 29, of Waynesburg was charged before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates with a providing false reports to law enforcement.

According to Cree, Gump called Greene County 911 and reported that she was raped at a location in Franklin Township at 6:05 p.m. Nov. 27.

Through the course of his investigation, Cree said that Gump gave differing accounts of the alleged sexual assault.

When she was eventually confronted with the inconsistencies, Cree said Gump admitted to fabricating the rape.

Gump will face a preliminary hearing for the misdemeanor charge at a later date before Bates.
