An attempted homicide charge against a California man accused of shooting at another person in Brownsville last month has been dismissed.

Jaquan D. High was also facing a felony aggravated assault charge after Brownsville police accused him of firing a weapon at another man in the borough on Jan. 3, but that count was also dismissed during his preliminary hearing Monday.

Police had claimed that High was driving in an SUV in the 400 block of High Street and fired three gunshots at Kerrion High, who ran from the scene on Elm Street. It is not known if Kerrion High, who was not struck by the gunfire, and Jaquan High are related.

Jaquan High is still facing charges in the case after District Judge Michael Defino ordered him to stand trial on a felony count of firearm not to be possessed without a license and misdemeanor charges of possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. It’s not known why the most serious charges were dismissed.

High, 32, was arrested Jan. 31, but is free on $100,000 unsecured bond.
