Waynesburg woman charged in deadly Pittsburgh crash

By Jon Andreassi 2 min read

Pittsburgh police charged a Waynesburg woman in connection with a deadly crash killing an Allegheny County man in the city last summer.

Amy Robinson, 46, faces a felony charge of homicide by vehicle, as well as misdemeanors of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

Charging documents accuse Robinson of running a red light at the intersection of Boulevard of the Allies and Grant Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.

According to the criminal complaint, shortly before 9 a.m. on July 14, Robinson was driving west in a Ford F-150 on the Boulevard of the Allies and collided with a motorcycle headed north on Grant.

Police identified the motorcyclist as 67-year-old James Christopher of Pittsburgh’s North Side. Court records state that Christopher was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died. The office of the Allegheny County medical examiner determined he died from blunt impact injuries to his head, neck and torso.

There were also two juvenile passengers in Robinson’s truck. None of them were injured.

According to the complaint, Robinson told officers she had the green light and did not see the motorcycle coming. However, police say that footage from nearby surveillance cameras show that the light turned red about 10 seconds before Robinson reached the intersection.

Per online court records, Robinson has not been arraigned on the charges and a preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
