1 min read

The owner of a Connellsville car dealership was sentenced in federal court to 10 months in prison for conspiracy to commit mail and bank fraud.

According to the Department of Justice, Joshua DeWitt, 38, will also have two years of supervised release following his sentence.

DeWitt was the owner of RC Auto, and filed multiple fraudulent applications for pandemic unemployment funds and paycheck protection relief loans. According to the DOJ, he was assisted by employee Terrence Newmeyer, who was indicted along with DeWitt in August 2022.

Some applications were filed on behalf of customers, claiming the funds would be used to purchase a vehicle from the dealership.

DeWitt was also ordered to pay more than $60,000 in restitution.
