Uniontown man jailed in alleged arson

A Uniontown man was arrested this week after allegedly setting fire to bales of shavings at Tractor Supply.

Uniontown police charged Joseph Ardel Reiner, 60, with felonies of arson, risking catastrophe and criminal mischief.

According to the criminal complaint, Reiner started the fire at about 10 a.m. Tuesday behind the building, located at 575 Morgantown St. Police said the fire resulted in more than $6,700 worth of bales being destroyed.

Police said Reiner initially gave police the false name of Erick Lee Strombonnee. According to the complaint, surveillance footage shows Reiner setting the fire.

Reiner was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before District Judge Jason Cox, who sent him to the Fayette County jail without bond. A preliminary hearing is set for 8:20 a.m. Feb. 27.
