Brownsville man sentenced to 51 months for possession of child sexual abuse materials
A Brownsville man will go to federal prison for 51 months followed by 10 years of supervised release after his conviction for possession of child sexual abuse materials.
According to the Department of Justice, Karl Lutes, 52, pleaded guilty and admitted to sharing images on the internet that depicted the sexual abuse of juveniles. His guilty plea was announced Thursday.
Undercover Homeland Security agents identified Lutes and served a search warrant at his home in February 2020.
According to the DOJ, investigators found hundreds of images and videos showing sexual abuse.
Lutes will also have to pay $28,000 in restitution as part of his conviction.
