When Fairchance native Dr. Marcy Goisse decided to become a physician, she knew family medicine was the only choice for her.
“I wanted to know and treat the entire family and the entire person, just like my grandfather did,” she said.
Goisse hoped to honor the legacy of her grandfather, Dr. Mark Montgomery, and as a solo practitioner founded Montgomery Medical Inc. in 2013.
Over time, it grew into a practice that now includes three physicians and seven mid-level providers. Last week, in an effort to continue expanding community-based services, Montgomery Medical held a ribbon cutting at its new location in the Fayette Business Park in Smithfield.
The move allows for additional services, including MontyMed Same Day Care for acute and walk-in visits and onsite diagnostic testing, enhancing the ability to meet diverse health care needs within the community.
By bucking the industry trend of physicians who work for large organizations or hospitals, Goisse said she followed in her grandfather’s footsteps.
“I am thankful to be back in the community my grandfather served,” Goisse says. “Montgomery Medical is not only named after him but also truly inspired by him.”
The 18,345-square-foot building within Fayette Business Park that houses Montgomery Medical also houses two others: Frontier Clinical Research and Labcorp.
Frontier Clinical Research has six research sites in Southwestern Pennsylvania and North Central West Virginia, which consist of board certified physicians in family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, gastroenterology and gynecology.
The company specializes in conducting high-quality clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry, bridging the gap between pharmaceutical companies and patients and facilitating the recruitment of participants into clinical trials to advance new medications.
Frontier has conducted hundreds of clinical research trials, providing medical examinations, lab work and medications at no cost to qualifying participants.
Also a native of Fairchance, Kim Chapman, the president of Frontier Clinical Research, used her experience in the medical field as a medical assistant to help establish her company in 2016.
Labcorp offers laboratory services for doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, researchers and patients.
All three companies are located in the business park at 105 Laurel View Drive, Smithfield.
