Fayette County car salesman sentenced for pandemic relief fraud

A salesman at a Connellsville car dealership was sentenced Tuesday for his role in a scheme to defraud COVID-19 relief programs.

According to the Department of Justice, Terrence Newmeyer Jr., 46, was sentenced to one day in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He must also pay $31,000 in restitution.

Newmeyer worked at RC Auto, and conspired with owner Joshua DeWitt to file fraudulent applications for pandemic unemployment funds and the paycheck protection program.

DeWitt was sentenced last month to serve 10 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. He will also have to make restitution in the amount of $60,000.
