A Uniontown woman was uninjured when she accidentally backed her car into a neighbor’s garage on Cleveland Avenue Thursday morning.

A Uniontown woman accidentally pressed the accelerator when she was backing her car out of the driveway Thursday morning, causing the vehicle to hit into a neighbor’s garage.

Uniontown police Lt. Tom Kolencik said Linda Weaver’s car crossed the street to 133 Cleveland Ave. when she hit the accelerator. The impact caused a support beam in the garage, located below her neighbor’s house, to fall onto the car when she hit it just before 11 a.m.

Kolencik said Weaver, whose age was not provided, was not injured, and noted that there was nobody in the neighboring house or garage. He classified the crash as accidental, and said it was not caused by a health-related event or impairment.

Along with Uniontown police, Uniontown Fire Department and Fayette EMS responded to the scene.

Kolencik said that officials contacted K2 Engineering to inspect the house to determine if the garage needs additional support, or is safe for use.
