Bail denied for Uniontown man accused of biting his mother
A 90-year-old North Union Township woman told state police her son repeatedly bit her in the face on Saturday after several hours of drinking.
Ryan McGinnis, 52, faces felony counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault for the alleged assault to Ada McGinnis.
According to the criminal complaint, state police were called to 1083 West Penn Boulevard in North Union Township, where they found Ada McGinnis lying on the floor of a hallway covered in blood with a large head wound.
She reportedly told police that her son, who lives with her, had started drinking around 6 a.m. Around 9:30 a.m., he became upset with her, shoved her down, and started to bite her on the forehead and use his head to hit her face, police alleged.
Ada McGinnis told police she lost track of how many times he bit her and almost lost consciousness. She was able to call 911 on her cellphone when Ryan McGinnis left her at some point to go into the kitchen.
Police said that Ryan McGinnis’s face was also covered in blood, though his injuries did not require immediate attention. Police also noted in court paperwork that “fresh and dried blood was observed around the lips and mouth” of Ryan McGinnis.
Ada McGinnis was treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. for the bite marks to her head, a broken nose and abrasions to her arm.
Ryan McGinnis was denied bail and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Nov. 13, in front of District Judge Daniel Shimshock.
