North Union and South Union townships to see lower garbage rates in 2025

By Zach Petroff 1 min read

Residents of both North Union and South Union townships will see a drop in their garbage bills after the two municipalities joined together to negotiate a new contract with Noble Environmental Waste Management Services.

“We were at the end of our five-year contract and through our intergovernmental board with South Union (and) we came together and came to terms with something more appealing to the garbage company and our residents,” said North Union Township Supervisor Ronald Landman.

According to supervisors from both townships, starting in 2025 residents’ monthly garbage rate will decrease 2.5% taking bills from $13.57 to $13.23.

“I would venture to say we have the lowest rates in Fayette County,” Landman said.

South Union Township Supervisor Jason Scott said the two townships coming together allows both municipalities to make a more attractive bid because of the increasing service area.

“It’s good for business,” Scott said. “North (Union) and South Union townships have a good relationship, and anytime we can come together and bid, it’s a plus for everyone.”
