Washington man charged in city shooting

Washington police arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in the city Monday.
On Tuesday police charged Trevon Jamar McCrary, 30, of Washington, with felonies of criminal homicide and carrying a firearm without a license.
McCrary is accused in court documents of shooting and killing Nasstylejah Wilkerson at about 11:48 a.m. Monday near the intersection of West Walnut and North Franklin streets. Charging documents state Wilkerson was McCrary’s brother.
Wilkerson, 28, of Washington, was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. Monday in the emergency department at UPMC Washington Hospital after being shot earlier in the day, according to a report issued by Coroner Timothy Warco.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told investigators Wilkerson had gone outside of a home at 105 W. Walnut to retrieve his bank card from his car when shots were fired.
The vehicle McCrary allegedly drove from the scene was tracked to Bridgeville, the complaint states. Investigators obtained surveillance footage that showed McCrary getting out of the car.
According to the complaint, at about noon Tuesday McCrary’s sister called Penn Hills police to report that he called her and threatened to kill her. She also said she believed he had been responsible for shooting Wilkerson.
Court records state that Wilkerson died of multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Also responding to the shooting were Washington City Fire Department, Ambulance and Chair, state police, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, East Washington police, South Strabane police and Greene County Regional Police Department.
McCrary also faces misdemeanor charges of prohibited possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment. He has not been arraigned on the charges.
