Waynesburg attorney Patrick D. Fitch has announced his candidacy for judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Greene County.

A longtime resident of Greene County, Fitch is a Waynesburg Central High School graduate and earned his degree from Waynesburg College before attending Ohio Northern University’s School of Law.

He is admitted to practice before the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Fitch brings a wealth of legal and law enforcement experience to his candidacy.

He served as a special agent in the U.S. Secret Service, graduating with honors from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga., and later from the U.S. Secret Service’s Special Agent Training Program in Beltsville, Md.

Following Sept. 11, 2001, he was assigned to an FBI Task Force and later served on President George W. Bush’s protective detail. He continued his service as a federal attorney before being promoted to a supervisory role on President Barack Obama’s Protective Detail, where he oversaw security for White House Chief of Staff William Daley.

After completing his career in federal service, Fitch returned to Waynesburg to raise his three children and to practice law. He has experience working as an attorney in domestic relations and presently works as an assistant public defender in Washington County.

Fitch is involved with St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church (Parish of St. Matthias), Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Revolution, and Ancient Order of Hibernians.
